In your house, is the television on and present at any time? Well, do not lose detail of the consequences that excess hours of television can have on the development and education of children.

A study has revealed that when the television is on, the father or mother talks less to their children. Scientific evidence shows that the less talk time a child has with the family and with friends, the poorer their language development.

The acquisition of language in babies is carried out during their first two years of life and its fruits begin to be collected around the age of three, which is when the child begins to string individual words with verbs, thus using their first sentences to ask or express what you want. In this learning process conversation is essential, which is an essential exercise for the child to begin to express himself correctly and where parents play a very important role, which television cannot replace.

And it is that in all communication there must be a sender and a receiver that issues a response. In the case of television for children under two years of age, the American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) warns that the media have negative effects and there are no known positive effects for children under two years of age. For this reason, they recommend that pediatricians talk with parents about avoiding baby videos and limiting screen time to no more than two hours a day for children under the age of two.

Lack of time is the main reason parents choose to put their child in front of the television. However, despite the routine obligations of each day we must realize how important it is to spend quality time with our children. Time flies by and everything we do every day for them counts.

To prevent language learning difficulties, the baby needs to feel the need to communicate with the people around him from the first moment. To do this, you can use resources such as: make faces (from the front, to the right, to the left), blow kisses or play with facial expressions (laugh, fright, cry, surprise ...)

It is also advisable to use short words to address the child such as 'come' or 'take', which will help your baby to increase the number of words in his vocabulary. Another recommended method is to use simple sentences and cut to facilitate understanding and that are associated with actions such as 'mom bathes baby' or 'baby drinks milk'. Talk to him for as long as possible taking advantage of any daily circumstance such as visits to the park, the zoo, the supermarket, the swimming pool ... and use questions that not only generate affirmative or negative answers (yes or no), but also favor the choice and naming of things is essential to establish communication with your baby and to acquire correct control of language.

In this learning it is essential to respect his time and give him the opportunity to talk by talking to him, respecting his rhythm, his effort, and encouraging him with prizes and praise. Encourage him to verbally ask for what he wants. This way, your baby will work hard to tell you the things he needs to communicate. Avoid assuming that you understand your child's gestural attitude and in this way you will be able to stimulate your baby's language.
