We are always thinking what we can do so that our children are better, have a good job in the future or, at least, that know how to defend themselves professionally and personally, and become happy.

It is a difficult task, but, as we already know, everything is learned, and therefore everything is taught. For our children to be independent and develop some autonomy in their lives, we must educate them and their degree of autonomy and independence will depend a lot on the education we give them.

What generally happens is that many parents tend to anticipate children's actions, and they don't let them act or do some other things that kids could do on their own. These parents act this way because they believe that their children do not yet have the capacity to do things on their own, to prevent them from hurting themselves, for convenience to achieve faster results, or because they do not trust their children's ability to react.

Children they learn to be autonomous through small daily activities that they will develop at home, in kindergarten or at school. Children want to grow up and want to show that they are older at all times. It is the mission of parents and educators, the application of tasks that help children to demonstrate their skills and the value of their effort. Placing, collecting, storing, removing, fastening and unbuttoning clothes and shoes, going to the bathroom, eating alone or setting the table are actions that will help children to position themselves in the space in which they live, and to feel part of it. your own family and with your friends.

All children can and should be brought up to be independent, but all children are not the same. Each child develops abilities in a different way. You can ask everyone for everything, but you cannot expect the results to be the same. It must, first, know what the real capacities of each child are, to be able to help him in the right measure, and not solve the task when he is able to do it alone.

The opportunity must be given to experiment, to make mistakes, to fail or to be right, and all of this takes a while, depending on the age and learning capacity of each child. When your child, in front of a task, says: I just am old, listen to him and respect his decision. What the parents say and how they act in this process is more important than the disposition of the child. Do not forget that greater autonomy promotes good self-esteem, and that this path leads to a healthy evolution in terms of the decisions and experiences of the child in their day to day.
